- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- Gradually add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until a smooth batter forms.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Using a spaetzle maker or a colander, drop the batter into the boiling water.
- Cook until the dumplings float to the surface, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and rinse under cold water.
- In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the spaetzle until golden brown.
Notes
- Serve spaetzle with your favorite sauce or gravies.
- Can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for a few days.
