A traditional German dish of meatballs in a creamy sauce with capers.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons capers
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 500 ml beef broth
  • 200 ml cream
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, onion, capers, breadcrumbs, egg, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs.
  3. In a large pot, bring the beef broth to a simmer.
  4. Add the meatballs and cook for about 20 minutes.
  5. In a separate pan, heat the cream and stir in the lemon juice.
  6. Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the broth and add to the cream sauce.
  7. Serve hot with the sauce poured over the meatballs.

Notes

  • Serve with boiled potatoes or rice.
  • Adjust the amount of capers to taste.
