This delicious Birnen-Lebkuchen-Strudel combines the flavors of pears and spiced gingerbread in a delightful pastry.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe pears
  • 200 g lebkuchen (gingerbread)
  • 100 g walnuts, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten (for glazing)
  • 1 pack of puff pastry
  • 50 g sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
  2. Peel and slice the pears, then mix them with chopped lebkuchen, walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and place the pear mixture in the center.
  4. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges well.
  5. Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
  • Can be made a day ahead and reheated before serving.
